I wish to feel what my grandfather feels early in the morning sitting on the balcony, his 5th cigarette already in hand, a freshly brewed cup of Arabic coffee, and Fairuz wafting through the open window, her voice ringing through the neighbourhood. So my longing to feel what he feels makes me recreate his every step. I want to remember the smell of the sea, for the coffee to burn my tongue and for it to remind me of skinning my knee in the earlier years of life before I had to worry about getting older. I want to remember life before all I knew was oppression and occupation. I want to remember nothing but peace, the way he remembers it. But all I can do is make this blog. I want to take you back to the homeland.
